This homemade citrus refresher recipe will certainly surprise you! The taste of the drink is pleasant and refreshing - a perfect choice for hot weather! This beverage is healthy and can be offered even to kids without any hesitations!

Ingredients

  • water : 1 litre
  • lemon : 1 piece (small)
  • lime : 1 piece
  • orange : 2 piece
  • cinnamon sticks : 3 piece
  • cilantro : 2 tsp
  • nutmeg : 0.25 tsp
  • sugar : 300 g
  • instant coffee : 2 Tbsp
  • vanilla essence : 0.5 tsp
  • soda water : 200 ml

Stages of cooking

  1. Lets’ start with making brown syrup for the drink. There is no sense to use any food dyes. Instead, take a pot, pour 1 tablespoon of water and add 5 tablespoons of sugar into it. Place the pot on small fire and keep stirring it for about 5 minutes to get the light brown syrup.

  2. In a minute, the water will evaporate.

  3. Then the sugar will start melting.

  4. Finally, the syrup will become light brown, but make sure it is not too dark! As soon as the syrup becomes brown, carefully add 1 glass of hot water and boil the syrup on strong fire for 20-30 seconds. Turn the fire off.

  5. Wash the fruit and peel the zest.

  6. Juice the fruit carefully, having removed the white part of them first.

  7. Take another pot and mix zest, cinnamon sticks, cilantro, nutmeg and 3 tablespoons of sugar in it. Pout 1 liter of water and boil for 1 minute.

  8. Turn the fire off. Add fresh juice, vanilla essence and sugar syrup into the pot.  Now, pour 2 tablespoons of coffee with 150 ml of hot water and wait for 10 minutes. Sift the drink and add it to the syrup.

  9. Wait until your citrus refresher cools down a bit and place it into the fridge for several hours. Then sift the drink and serve it with soda water in 1:1 proportion. Do not forget about ice! Enjoy the drink!
