MYTHS AND FACTS ABOUT COCONUT OIL

 


There are various myths and facts about coconut oil and since likes and dislikes are very personal, it is difficult to prove anything, still the most of people will agree that coconut has a superb taste. It is widely used in cooking, it is full of vitamins and really health-giving.


Since that none will object that coconut oil is really healthy and useful oil for the whole body, it influences you inside and outside and the most of its influence is positive. You probably had a common notion that coconut oil serves as a great remedy for skin and hair but it is used in cooking, especially in those regions where coconuts are grown in abundance, these are usually coastal tropical regions.


In early sixties and seventies some researches tried to prove that coconut oil was dreadful, because of the saturated fats, so a lot of people really turned away from that oil but now it gains higher and higher popularity among people as cooking oil. Let\'s find out the reasons of its popularity.

 


COCONUT OIL USAGE IN COOKING


Coconut oil is very special, some recent researces showed that not all saturated fats are bad for mans body and coconut oil has exactly these fats. They increase the level of cholesterol in your body but this is good cholesterol since there are good and bad cholesterol in your body.


So, as for the cooking, remember that you need to buy edible coconut oil, it is different from coconut oil, which is used for skin and hair care, you should be careful.


Coconut butter is the food that is widely used in cooking. It looks like a peanut butter but it is not far the same as coconut oil. Coconut butter is very tasty, so if you don\'t like the taste of coconut oil you might prefer its butter.


It is absolutely easy to make coconut butter at home, for this take a whole dry coconut and put in a processer, add water or coconut water, also you may add milk and process until smooth. This butter won\'t be as smooth as a regular butter but concidering its healthy benefits you should not be bothered.


There are some recipes which are using coconut oil, besides, it is also added to desserts and sweets. Thus you can cook an omelette and use coconut oil instead of regular oil. Mix all the ingredients necessary for omelette, pre-heat the pan and add 1 teaspoon of coconut oil, when it is hot, pour the egg mixture.


Use coconut oil to fry fish, for this take fish per taste, add salt and pepper and fry it in coconut oil, previously you may dip fish into an egg to make it crispy. Serve hot as a side-dish or as a snack.


Cook waffles using coconut oil. Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt together in a bowl; make a well in the center of the flour mixture. Beat milk, coconut oil, egg, and vanilla extract together in a bowl; pour into the well in the flour mixture and stir until batter is just combined. Ladle batter into preheated waffle iron and cook until golden and crisp.


What is more, coconut oil can be stored easily and nicely for a long time.
