All yogurt types are healthy and very tasty. This time, we will cook soy yogurt, which is unusual, but so delicious as well. It contains only a few ingredients that make the dish easy and quick to cook. You may need a yogurt maker to cook soy yogurt. So, let’s get started!
- soy milk : 1 litre
- starter : 4 Tbsp (Use good quality plain soy yogurt)
- agar powder : 1 tsp (or 2 tsp of starch)
- water : 50 ml
Stages of cooking
Take a pot and pour soy milk inside it. Heat the milk up to 42-45 C (107.6-113 F).
Make sure the temperature is correct. To check it, use special thermometer. This is because natural yogurt culture will only survive in a very narrow temperature range.
Add 4 tablespoons of the starter to the soy milk and mix well with a sterile spoon. Then add one level teaspoon of agar powder or 2 teaspoons of starch premixed with 50 ml of water to the soy milk when it begins to boil. Alternatively, add one tablespoon of soy protein to soy milk before boiling it. It is best to use organic ingredients.
Put the yogurt into a yogurt maker. Follow the directions specified in the user manual of your yogurt maker. If you don't have a yogurt maker, put the yogurt in the oven at 42-45 C (107.6-113 F) for about 5 - 6 hours.
When the yogurt thickens, chill it a bit. The warmer the temperature is, the faster the yogurt thickens. As soon as the yogurt cools down, you can add jam, fresh fruit or berries into it and enjoy its taste with your loved ones!
