Food products differ and so do the ways of their storage. If you wish to make sure the products you use to cook your favorite dishes really meet the highest quality standards, then it is a must for you to know how to store them properly. The fact is that correct storage and processing of food products does not only help preserve their taste properties but also prolongs their life and the number of healthy nutrients needed for your body.

Dairy products

Milk and other dairy products should be kept in a fridge under the temperature 2-6 degrees. It is recommended that you should not remove them from the original package to maintain their quality. If you buy milk at the market or somewhere in the village, do not forget to boil it before the consumption first!

Meat and Fish

Just like dairy products, milk and fish should be stored in a fridge under the temperature around 2-6 degrees. These products should be stored not longer than for 48 hours, while other byproducts should be stored for about 24 hours only.

Eggs

Eggs are kept in a fridge during 10-15 days. They are very prone to soaking the scents of other products, so it is recommended to keep them away from other foods and dishes. If the eggs come with scratches or other visible signs of damage, hurry up to consume them for one or two days.

Butter

Butter wrapped in foil or baking paper is basically kept in a fridge for 5-7 days. If you need to prolong this term, you can place it into the freezer for the required period of time and then replace the package to the fridge again right before using it.

Oil

It is preferable to store oil under the room temperature in the dark and well-closed bottles. If you follow these recommendations, the product may not lose its quality for several months. Keeping oil in a cold place prolongs this time up to one year, but sometimes such oil may become bitter and unpleasant to use and consume. This mainly depends upon the quality of the product and the manufacturer. Keep that in mind.

Fresh Fruit, Vegetables, and Berries

It is better to store fresh vegetables in a cool place with the humidity that does not exceed 85-90%. The light should be absent there, so if you don’t live in a village, the only place to store fresh vegetables in your fridge, again. The same about fruit and berries, but make sure the berries and fruit you choose for storage, are not spoiled or damaged.

Bread and Cereals

Cereals should be stored in separate containers that are tightly closed. An ideal option is a metal or a glass can. If you do everything right, the storage time may last up to several months, except for the oatmeal, the taste of which becomes unpleasant when stored for a long time. Speaking about bread, it should be kept in special enamel, plastic or wooden bread containers, where it should be stored for 2-3 days.

May your products be tasty and quality!
