These traditional English Easter Buns with a white cross on top attract many housewives with their original look! But besides their appearance, these Hot Cross Buns buns are also very tasty, tender, fragrant and airy!
Ingredients
- wheat flour: 300 g
- yeast powder: 1 tsp
- sugar: 30 g
- milk: 125 g (warm)
- butter: 20 g
- egg: 1 piece
- cinnamon: 1 tsp
- cocoa powder: 15 g
- salt: 1 tsp
- jam: 2 Tbsp (grapefruit or aprico)
- orange zest: 0.5 Tbsp
- raisins: 30 g
- spices: 0.5 tsp (mixed spices for pastries)
- marmalade: 20 g

Mix flour with cocoa, salt, sugar, yeast and spices. Add orange zest.

Mix warm milk with 1 Tbsp of jam.

Pour the milk mixture into a bowl with dry ingredients. Add the egg and start kneading the dough.

In the process of kneading add soft butter.

Collect the dough in a bowl, if desired, grease with a small amount of oil. Cover the bowl and leave in a warm place for about 1 hour.

Wash the raisins in hot water. Mix the raisins with the dough. Cover and leave for another 30-40 minutes. Then divide the dough into equal parts, form the buns and put them on a baking sheet. Cover again and leave for 20 minutes.

In the meantime, mix a small amount of flour with water to make a sticky paste. Shuffle her pastry bag. Apply on buns drawing.

Bake at 190 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Cover the finished buns with a napkin and let cool. Finished buns can be coated with glaze. To do this, warm over low heat marmalade. When it becomes liquid, apply a pastry brush on the buns.
