Ingredients
- green lentils: 1 cup
- basmati rice: 1 cup
- salt: 1 tsp
- onion: 1 piece
- ginger: 1 piece (1 cm)
- carrots: 1 piece
- tomatoes: 2 piece
- oil: 3 Tbsp
- curry: 2 tsp (powder)
- Garam Masala: 1 tsp (optional)
- red ground pepper: 0.25 tsp
- sugar: 1 tsp
- cilantro: 1 bunch (small)
- lemon juice: 2 Tbsp

Wash the lentils, take a pot, pour 2.5 cups water in it, add lentils, bring to a boil, then add salt and cook on low heat for about 20-30 minutes.

Take another pot. Rinse the rice, put into boiling water, cover with the lid and cook over low heat for 10-12 minutes.

Peel the onion and ginger and chop them well. Peel the carrot, slice into thin strips. Chop the cilantro, add 2 tablespoons of squeezed lemon juice. Blanch the tomatoes, peel them and cut into small cubes.

Take a frying pan and heat the oil over medium heat, sauté the onion and ginger for about 3 minutes.

Add curry, garam masala, red pepper and cook for about one minute, stirring the dish.

Then add the carrot and cook for 3 more minutes, stirring it well.

Now, add tomatoes, 0.5 cup of hot water, and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Stir the dish well once again, cover with a lid and stew for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Finally, add the lentils and cook for about 5 minutes. When done, sprinkle the dish with lemon juice and chopped cilantro, mix well and serve over the cooked rice. Bon appétit!
