These sourdough discard cookies are soft sugar-type cookies. The sourdough starter gives them a little extra tang.

Ingredients

  • white sugar: 1 cup
  • butter: 0.5 cup (softened)
  • sourdough starter: 1 cup
  • egg: 1 piece
  • ¾ cups all-purpose flour: 1 piece
  • baking powder: 2 tsp
  • vanilla extract: 1 tsp
  • salt: 1 tsp
  • baking soda: 0.25 tsp

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease baking sheets, or line them with parchment paper.

  2. Cream sugar and butter in a large bowl. Beat in sourdough starter and egg. Stir in flour, baking powder, vanilla extract, salt, and baking soda until smooth. Drop dough by teaspoonfuls onto the prepared baking sheets.
