I was trying to make a really good BBQ dinner out of ground turkey, something I had never done before. When I made these turkey sloppy Joes, all I got were positive replies. I got this recipe, totally re-created it, and it turned out great!

Ingredients

  • ½ pounds ground turkey: 2 piece
  • onion: 0.5 cup (chopped)
  • green bell pepper: 0.5 cup (chopped)
  • tomato: 0.5 cup (chopped)
  • no-salt-added ketchup: 1 cup
  • barbeque sauce: 7 Tbsp
  • prepared yellow mustard: 2 Tbsp
  • vinegar: 1 Tbsp
  • celery seed: 0.5 tsp
  • ground black pepper: 0.5 tsp
  • red pepper flakes: 0.5 tsp (to taste)
  • hamburger bun, split and: 8 piece (toasted)

  1. Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Cook and stir turkey, onion, bell pepper, and tomato in the hot skillet until turkey is crumbly and no longer pink, about 5 minutes.

  2. Stir ketchup, barbeque sauce, mustard, vinegar, celery seed, black pepper, and red pepper flakes into turkey in the skillet. Reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes.
