Corn fritters! Nothing warms up a cool night like a plateful of these old-time treats. Dig in, they're delicious!

Ingredients

  • oil for frying: 3 cups
  • sifted all-purpose flour: 1 cup
  • baking powder: 1 tsp
  • salt: 0.5 tsp
  • white sugar: 0.25 tsp
  • egg, lightly: 1 piece (beaten)
  • milk: 0.5 cup
  • shortening: 1 Tbsp (melted)
  • whole kernel corn: 1 can (12 ounce can, drained)
