Stages of cooking
-
Grind roasted gram in a mixer to get smooth powder. Sieve the powder to get rid of the lumps. Take a deep bowl then and mix foxtail millet flour, rice flour, gram flour, pottu kadalai podi/ powder, asafetida, cumin seeds, salt and ghee in it.
-
Now, add warm water, mix the ingredients and knead soft dough. It should not be sticky.
-
Add 0.25 teaspoons of oil, cover the dough and set it aside for a while. Take a pan and heat oil in it. Take murukku mould plate and place it in a muruku kuzhal. Fill the dough in a muruku kuzhal (one handful) and press out over the ladle.
-
Deep-fry your chakli on medium fire until they become crispy.
-
Make sure to fry them on both sides.
-
Take them out of oil and drain on paper towels to get rid of extra fat.
-
Leave at the room temperature for a couple of minutes and serve! Store the remaining chakli in the airtight container. Enjoy!
