This traditional Derby pie has been served at the annual Kentucky Derby for 50 years.
Ingredients
- ¼ cups chopped pecans: 1 piece
- brown sugar: 0.75 cup
- light corn syrup: 0.75 cup
- all-purpose flour: 0.5 cup
- butter, melted and cooled: 0.5 cup
- white sugar: 0.25 cup
- eggs: 4 piece
- Bourbon: 2 Tbsp
- ½ teaspoons vanilla extract: 1 piece
- miniature semisweet chocolate chips: 0.75 cup
- unbaked deep-dish pie crust: 1 piece (9 inch)

Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C). Spread pecans out on a cookie sheet.

Bake pecans in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, stirring halfway through. Continue to bake until toasted, checking and stirring every 15 minutes, for up to 30 more minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool completely.

Meanwhile, increase the oven temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Whisk brown sugar, corn syrup, flour, butter, white sugar, eggs, bourbon, and vanilla together in a bowl until smooth. Fold in cooled pecan pieces and chocolate chips until combined. Pour mixture into pie crust.

Bake in the preheated oven until pie is set, 50 to 60 minutes. Serve warm or chilled.
