Stages of cooking
-
Take a deep soup bowl, rinse the yellow peas thoroughly until the water is almost clear. Soak for at least 30 minutes.
-
Add 6 cups of water, add 0.5 teaspoon of turmeric powder and boil the ingredients. Cook on medium heat uncovered until the pea is soft. This will take for about 30-40 minutes. Add boiling water if needed.
-
Wash and chop one tomato. Then wash and chop the cilantro finely.
-
When the peas become soft, add chopped tomato and 1.5 teaspoon of salt. Cook together for about 5 minutes.
-
Puree the soup using a blender. Add more hot water if necessary to get the consistency you need.
-
Take another saucepan and heat up 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil there. Then add cumin seeds and optionally 1/3 teaspoon of asafoetida. Sauté for about one minute. Add the oil with spices into your soup, add chopped cilantro and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. Mix well. Serve hot. Bon appétit!
