Stages of cooking

  1. Take a deep soup bowl, rinse the yellow peas thoroughly until the water is almost clear. Soak for at least 30 minutes.

  2. Add 6 cups of water, add 0.5 teaspoon of turmeric powder and boil the ingredients. Cook on medium heat uncovered until the pea is soft. This will take for about 30-40 minutes. Add boiling water if needed.

  3. Wash and chop one tomato. Then wash and chop the cilantro finely.

  4. When the peas become soft, add chopped tomato and 1.5 teaspoon of salt. Cook together for about 5 minutes.

  5. Puree the soup using a blender. Add more hot water if necessary to get the consistency you need.

  6. Take another saucepan and heat up 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil there. Then add cumin seeds and optionally 1/3 teaspoon of asafoetida. Sauté for about one minute. Add the oil with spices into your soup, add chopped cilantro and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. Mix well. Serve hot. Bon appétit!
