Pommes Anna (Anna Potatoes) is a traditional French dish, which was first cooked by Adolphe Duglere in 1870. The dish is cooked of potatoes and butter. These ingredients are very simple and affordable, but if you follow all the steps of the receipt correctly, the result will definitely surprise you and your loved ones!
Ingredients
- potato: 400 g
- black pepper: 0.5 tsp
- salt: 0.5 tsp
- butter: 30 g (melted)

Wash and peel the potatoes

Take a deep pot and pour cold water inside, add salt and peeled potatoes. Place the pot on fire and wait until it boils. Cook the potatoes for 3 minutes from the moment the water boils and take the pot from the fire.

Drain the potatoes and let the potatoes cool down a bit

Cut the potatoes into thin slices

You can use one large bowl or three bowls of smaller sizes to cook the dish. Cover the bowls with butter from the inside and place the potato slices in the way they are shown on the photo. Start with the center of the bowl and form the “flower” shape. Add salt and black pepper on the first layer.

Put the second layer of the potato slices, add salt and black pepper once again! Repeat the step until there are no potato slices left.

Melt butter and pour it on the potatoes

Heat the oven to 220 degrees. Bake for about 40-50 minutes until the potato slices become golden. Take the dish away from the oven and serve warm. Enjoy the dish!
