- asparagus, trimmed and: 1 pound (cut into 1/2 inch pieces, fresh)
- slices bacon: 10 piece
- (8-inch) unbaked pie shells: 2 piece
- egg white, lightly: 1 piece (beaten)
- Swiss Cheese: 2 cups (shredded)
- eggs: 4 piece
- ½ cups half-and-half cream: 1 piece
- ground nutmeg: 0.25 tsp
- salt and pepper: (to taste)

Place asparagus in a steamer over 1 inch boiling water. Cover and cook until tender but still firm, 2 to 6 minutes. Drain and cool.
