This banana cream pie is made with homemade pudding. It is one of the yummiest desserts on earth!

Ingredients

  • white sugar: 0.75 cup
  • all-purpose flour: 0.33333 cup
  • salt: 0.25 tsp
  • milk: 2 cups
  • egg yolks: 3 piece (beaten)
  • butter: 2 Tbsp
  • ¼ teaspoons vanilla extract: 1 piece
  • baked pastry shell, cooled: 1 piece (9 inch)
  • bananas: 4 piece (sliced)

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

  2. Combine sugar, flour, and salt in a saucepan. Gradually stir in milk. Cook, stirring constantly, over medium heat until mixture boils and thickens. Continue to cook and stir for 2 more minutes, then remove from the heat.

  3. Place egg yolks in a medium bowl; whisk in a small amount of the hot milk mixture until smooth, then gradually whisk egg yolk mixture into the saucepan. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly until mixture coats the back of a spoon, about 2 more minutes. Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla.

  4. Fill pastry shell with sliced bananas; pour pudding mixture on top to cover.
