Stages of cooking
-
Preheat your oven to 200°C.
-
Scrub the potatoes clean, then prick with a fork all over.
-
Place in the hot oven for about 30-40 minutes until cooked through.
-
When potatoes are nearly done, prepare the garlic cheese spread for the bread.
-
In a bowl, combine the minced garlic, shredded cheese, butter, salt, and pepper. Spread this mixture evenly amongst the sourdough slices.
-
Wrap the bread slices in foil and pop them in the oven for about 15 minutes.
-
You can toast them open-faced in the last five minutes if you like your bread crispy.
-
Take everything out of the oven. Split open the potatoes and dollop some of the remaining cheese spread on top.
-
Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and serve hot alongside slices of the cheesy garlic bread.
-
Enjoy this comforting main dish! It could also work as a side dish or appetizer. If you add some thinly sliced roast beef or ham in between the bread slices, it becomes a great meat appetizer as well. Happy Cooking!
