Double beans curry is another dish popular in South India. It is quite easy to cook and can be served as an appetizer with rice or Indian Chapathi. The curry is very delicious, aromatic and spicy. Cook it right away to make sure yourself!
Ingredients
- double beans: 0.5 cup (fresh)
- tomatoes: 3 piece
- garlic: 1 Tbsp (mashed)
- onion: 1 piece (chopped)
- ginger: 1 Tbsp (mashed)
- green chilies: 1 piece (chopped)
- coriander leaves: 2 piece (chopped)
- curry leaves: 1 piece
- kalonji: 0.5 tsp
- turmeric powder: 0.25 tsp
- dry red chili: 0.5 tsp
- Garam Masala: 0.5 tsp
- cinnamon sticks: 0.5 piece
- bay leaf: 1 piece
- oil: 2 Tbsp
- salt: 0.5 tsp (or to your taste)
- water: 0.5 cup (or as much as needed)

Start cooking the dish with peeling and boiling the double beans. They should be soft when ready. Blend the tomatoes to get smooth puree.

Take a pan and heat oil in it. Add kalonji, bay leaf sauté and cinnamon. Then add onion, salt and keep sautéing until the onion becomes light brown.Right after that, add green chili, garlic, ginger and curry leaves. Sauté the ingredients together.

Now, add turmeric and red chili powder as well as boiled double beans. Sauté for a couple of minutes.

It is high time to add tomato puree now!

Pour water and add garam masala. Mix the dish well and let it thicken for a while.

Season with salt, cut off the heat and mix the dish well one more time.

Add coriander leaves, mix once again and serve hot with chapatti, rice or paratha. Bon appétit!
