Fried scotch oatmeal (or is it also called in Scotland – “skirlie”) tastes exotic and looks great as well. You can cook it for breakfast, dinner or supper – it will be a perfect addition to your menu! The recipe is quite simple and can be cooked in half an hour only!
Let’s start cooking the dish with the sauce. Peel and chop the onion. Fry it on butter for 2 minutes.
Add minced meat into the frying pan with the onion and keep frying for 8 minutes.
Add salt, pepper, meat broth and stew for 20 minutes more.
While the minced meat is being cooked, peel the second onion and slice it into thin semi-circles. Fry the onion on the butter.
Add oat flakes to the onion.
Add black pepper and thyme.
Mix everything and add salt. Continue frying for 5 minutes, but do not forget to stir the oat flakes.
Take a deep plate or a bowl and place hot fried oatmeal inside.
Pour the oat flakes with the sauce and decorate with basil. Enjoy the dish!
