Many years ago, a friend gave me this recipe for mincemeat pie filling made with simple ingredients. It's so good that even those who don't care for mincemeat pie will like it. This recipe makes enough to fill two 9-inch pies.
Ingredients
- apples: 4 cups (chopped)
- ½ cups diced cooked beef: 1 piece
- ½ cups raisins: 1 piece
- ½ cups white sugar: 1 piece
- beef broth: 1 cup
- orange - peeled, sectioned, and: 1 piece (cut into bite-size pieces)
- sorghum or molasses: 0.5 cup
- sweet pickle juice: 0.25 cup
- pineapple juice or apricot juice: 0.25 cup
- ground cinnamon: 1 tsp
- ground nutmeg: 1 tsp
- ground cloves: 0.5 tsp
- salt: 0.5 tsp

Mix apples, diced beef, raisins, sugar, beef broth, orange sections, sorghum, pickle juice, pineapple juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt together in a large bowl until well combined.
