This no-peek beef stew is a real standard in our household — great for company, and my husband always raves! No preparation, except opening cans. It cooks all day in the slow cooker. Serve over rice or noodles.

  • beef stew meat: 2 pound (cut into 1-inch cubes)
  • condensed French onion soup: 1 can (10.5 ounce can)
  • condensed cream of mushroom soup: 1 can (10.75 ounce can)
  • mushrooms: 1 can (4.5 ounce can, drained)
  • dry red wine: 0.5 cup
