Slow cooker pinto beans are tender, delicious, and easy! I developed this fabulous crockpot recipe after finding too many hard, uncooked beans after cooking in a pot on the stove.
Ingredients
- pinto beans: 1 pound (dried)
- Black Forest ham: 1 pound (cubed)
- medium onion: 1 piece (chopped)
- medium green bell pepper: 0.75 piece (diced)
- medium celery ribs: 2 piece (chopped)
- garlic: 3 clove (chopped)
- oregano: 1 Tbsp (to taste, dried)
- lard: 1 Tbsp
- ground cumin: 1 tsp (to taste)
- bay leaves: 2 piece
- chicken broth, or as needed to cover: 5 cups
