Here's an old sausage and sauerkraut recipe I've used for years that pairs sausage brats and briny sauerkraut in the slow cooker — yum!

Ingredients

  • sauerkraut: 1 can (20 ounce can)
  • brown sugar: 0.25 cup
  • ½ pounds bratwurst sausages: 1 piece
  • medium onion: 1 piece (sliced)
  • water: 0.5 cup (or as needed, optional)

  1. Mix sauerkraut and brown sugar together in a medium bowl.

  2. Pour sauerkraut mixture into a slow cooker; arrange sausages and onion over top. Cook on High for 2 hours. Check for dryness, adding water as necessary.
