I have been making this cranberry Jell-O salad with sour cream for so long that it is permanently embedded in my memory. A great alternative to the typical cranberry salad served at Thanksgiving. Very easy and delicious, too.
Ingredients
- jellied cranberry sauce: 1 can (16 ounce can)
- black cherry-flavored gelatin mix (such as Jell-O): 2 packages (3 ounce packages)
- ¾ cups boiling water: 1 piece
- carton sour cream: 1 piece (16 ounce)

Stages of cooking
-
Mash jellied cranberry sauce in a 3-quart bowl. Stir in gelatin mix until thoroughly combined. Pour in boiling water; stir until gelatin has dissolved completely, about 3 minutes. Chill in the refrigerator until softly set, 2 to 3 hours.
-
Gently fold sour cream into chilled cranberry gelatin, leaving marbled streaks of sour cream and gelatin. Return to the refrigerator until firmly set, 4 hours to overnight. Store leftovers in the refrigerator.
