  • chicken thighs, bone in: 4 pound (skin removed)
  • water: 10 cups
  • medium onion: 1 piece (chopped)
  • barley: 0.33333 cup
  • condensed chicken broth: 1 can (10.5 ounce can)
  • medium leeks: 7 piece (sliced)
  • stalks celery, thickly: 2 piece (sliced)
  • fresh parsley: 1 Tbsp (chopped)
  • salt: 1 tsp
  • ground black pepper: 0.5 tsp
  • sprig fresh thyme: 1 piece (chopped)

  1. Place chicken into a large pot; pour in water and add onion and barley. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 1 hour.
