This crockpot Swiss steak with brown gravy is delicious comfort food, especially in those cold winter months. My mom used to make this quick and easy dish for me growing up, and I found out it was passed down to her by her mother. Best served over mashed potatoes!
Ingredients
- all-purpose flour: 0.25 cup
- beef round steak: 2 pound (cut into strips)
- vegetable oil: 2 Tbsp
- cream of mushroom soup: 1 can (14.5 ounce can)
- Cheddar cheese soup: 1 can (14.5 ounce can)
- onion: 0.5 piece (chopped)
- green bell pepper: 1 Tbsp (to taste, chopped)
- clove garlic: 1 piece (minced)
- Worcestershire sauce: 1 tsp
- browning sauce (such as Kitchen Bouquet®): 0.5 tsp (to taste)
- salt and ground black pepper: (to taste)

Place flour into a bowl. Dredge round steak strips in flour to coat.

Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat; brown strips of round steak in the hot oil, 7 to 8 minutes per side.

Transfer beef strips to a slow cooker. Add cream of mushroom soup, Cheddar cheese soup, onion, green bell pepper, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, and browning sauce; stir. Season mixture with salt and black pepper.
