This hot mocha, a treat for coffee and chocolate lovers alike, combines the two under a layer of creamy foamed milk. Skim milk foams easily and makes a deceptively lean, yet rich topping. Enjoy it in the morning, as an afternoon break, and as a lean, luscious, liquid dessert.

Ingredients

  • unsweetened Dutch-processed cocoa powder: 1 Tbsp
  • packet granulated sugar substitute: 1 piece (to taste)
  • hot coffee: 1 cup
  • skim milk: 0.5 cup
  • cocoa powder: 0.5 tsp (for garnish)

  1. In a small mug or coffee cup, mix cocoa and granulated sugar substitute together. Add a few tablespoons of coffee and stir until cocoa is completely dissolved. Pour in remaining coffee.

  2. Foam milk. Spoon a generous amount over hot mocha. Garnish with a pinch of cocoa powder, if desired.
