This taco salad with Western dressing is a favorite at all gatherings. It has been passed down in our family for three generations. One friend of the family comes to our gatherings specifically for this dish. It is easy to make and oh-so delicious.
Ingredients
- lean ground beef: 1 pound
- taco seasoning mix: 1 pack (1.25 ounce pack)
- head iceberg lettuce - rinsed, dried, and: 1 piece (shredded)
- onion: 1 piece (chopped)
- green bell pepper: 1 piece (chopped)
- Cheddar-Monterey Jack cheese blend: 3 cups (shredded)
- tomatoes: 2 piece (chopped)
- ounces crushed tortilla chips: 4 piece
- French dressing: 0.25 cup (or as needed)

Place ground beef in a large, deep skillet. Cook and stir over medium-high heat until evenly brown. Drain and discard grease. Add taco seasoning mix and prepare according to package directions. Set aside to cool.

Combine cooled beef mixture, lettuce, onion, bell pepper, cheese, tomatoes, and tortilla chips in a large serving bowl. Add enough dressing to coat; mix well and refrigerate for 8 hours to overnight.
