1. Rinse the rice under running water to remove any dirt or debris. Drain the rice in a colander and set aside.

   

2. In a saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to boil over high heat.

   

3. Add the rice and salt, stirring to combine.

   

4. Reduce the heat to low and cover the saucepan with a tight-fitting lid.

   

5. Allow the rice to simmer for around 18 to 20 minutes, or until the water has been completely absorbed by the rice.

   

6. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it stand for around 5 minutes.

   

7. Fluff the rice using a fork and add the butter, if desired.

   

8. Mix well and serve immediately.
