This authentic sangria recipe is a terrific version of the popular wine drink. You can add any fruit that you want, but I find that apples and pears absorb all the rum. This one is not diluted with carbonated beverages. I have had much success with red Burgundy wine and white rum, though spiced rum is nice too.
Ingredients
- orange: 1 piece
- lemon: 1 piece
- lime: 1 piece
- ½ cups rum: 1 piece
- white sugar: 0.5 cup (to taste)
- dry red wine: 1 bottle (750 milliliter bottle)
- orange juice: 1 cup

Have orange, lemon, lime, rum, wine, and orange juice well chilled.

Slice orange, lemon, and lime into thin rounds; place in a large glass pitcher. Pour in rum and 1/2 cup sugar. Chill in the refrigerator until flavors blend, about 2 hours.

Crush fruit lightly with a wooden spoon; stir in wine and orange juice. Adjust sweetness as desired.
