Stages of cooking
-
Rinse the rice in cold water, then drain and set aside.
-
In a medium-sized pot, bring the 2 cups of water to a boil.
-
Once the water is boiling, add the rinsed rice, olive oil, salt, and pepper.
-
Stir well to make sure everything is evenly distributed and the rice is submerged in the water.
-
Bring the mixture back to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid.
-
Let the rice simmer for 18 minutes, or until all the water is absorbed.
-
After 18 minutes, turn off the heat and let the rice sit, covered, for an additional 5 minutes.
-
Fluff the rice with a fork and serve!
-
Optional: You can also add your favorite vegetables, proteins, or spices to the rice once it's cooked to give it some extra flavor and texture. Enjoy!
