This salsa verde has a fabulous flavor. Use it on green chicken enchiladas or as a condiment for any dish that needs a little extra zip!

Ingredients

  • tomatillos, husked: 1 pound
  • onion: 0.5 cup (finely chopped)
  • serrano Chili pepper: 1 piece (minced)
  • garlic: 1 tsp (minced)
  • cilantro: 2 Tbsp (chopped)
  • fresh oregano: 1 Tbsp (chopped)
  • ½ teaspoons salt: 1 piece (to taste)
  • ground cumin: 0.5 tsp
  • water: 2 cups

  2. Place tomatillos, onion, chile pepper, and garlic into a large saucepan; season with cilantro, oregano, salt, and cumin. Pour in water and bring to a boil over high heat; reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until the tomatillos are soft, 10 to 15 minutes. Dotdash Meredith Food Studios
